Gay Marriage

I support gay marriage. Unfortunately, civil unions do not provide the same level of rights as marriage. I have witnessed the difficulties that the survivor of a same sex couple with a civil union had to face when their partner passed away. There is a significant legal difference between a civil union and a marriage, and all people should be allowed to form the legal contract of marriage with a partner.

A slightly tongue in cheek comment: Fiscal conservatives should support gay marriage. Why should gay couples escape the marriage income tax penalty? Gay couples will pay higher federal income tax when they are allowed to marry! This will increase federal tax revenue!
